 ited, the circus music historical society. The ensemble will recreate the g
 olden era of circus bands when virtuoso musicians provided the music for ev
 erything from the street parade, to concert selections, to the big show its
 elf.<br /><br />In circus lingo, musicians were "windjammers", famous for b
 lasting notes from their horns loudly enough to fill a big top. Circus musi
 c includes a wide variety of styles in order to provide a varied soundscape
  throughout circus day. Spirited high speed marches were played from atop p
 arade wagons to entice the public to come to the lot. The large majority of
  the American public experienced ragtime and jazz for the first time in the
  side show tent. During the performance, waltzes accompanied aerial acts an
 d exotic melodies framed animal acts.<br /><br />Windjammer musicians from 
 35 states have gathered in Florida this week to rehearse, record and perfor
 m historic traditional circus music, fulfilling the goal of the 501c3 organ
 ization to preserve a vital aspect of American culture.<br /><br />The Wind
 jammers Unlimited is a 501(c) 3 historical music society that is dedicated 
 to the preservation of traditional music of the circus. Learn more about th
