You don’t need special skills or training to become a volunteer. Every volunteer brings his or her individual interests, talents and experience to the volunteer program, and each plays a unique and important role. Each prospective volunteer is interviewed, and the staff determines where your interests and skills best match the needs of the hospital. Once you have chosen your service area in the hospital, you will receive a thorough orientation and on-the-job training.
In addition to our diverse adult volunteer population, our hospital also offers a VolunTeen program for teens ages 16 and older. All volunteers are asked to commit to a minimum of one 4-hour shift per week. VolunTeens may serve in both clinical and waiting areas, providing support to patients, families, visitors and staff, with after-school opportunities available during the school year and expanded scheduling during the VolunTeen School Summer program.
