The Sarasota Sharks swim team has been building champions since 1961. Since the beginning, a tradition of excellence was created and continues to be recognized at all levels, including state, national and international stages. In addition to its highly competitive program, the Sharks also offer several levels for swimmers just starting out and those who prefer a less strenuous, but still competitive program.
The Sarasota Sharks Swim School SwimAmerica(TM) curriculum uses a ten-level system as the foundation for all our swim classes. Each level is skill-specific and focuses on building strong, efficient technique. Swimmers advance at their own pace and are celebrated for each milestone they achieve. Our ten-level system is organized into three progressive groups:
Beginner Swim Skills - 30 minutes - (Levels 1–4)
Intermediate Swim Skills - 30 minutes - (Levels 5–7)
Advanced Swim Skills - 45 minutes - (Levels 8–10)
Level Ten swimmers are swim-team ready! A graduate of Level Ten can swim 300 yards of freestyle, 100 yards of backstroke, and complete a 100-yard Individual Medley. These swimmers have the endurance to enjoy any aquatic activity and the ability to stay as safe as possible while doing so. This ten-level journey opens the door to the world of aquatics—competition, adventure, opportunity, and fun—while instilling lifelong swim skills and safety.
