Art Center Sarasota Family Saturdays

Family Saturdays are free, drop-in art experiences held every Saturday from 12–3 PM. Designed for kids and grown-ups to enjoy together, each session offers a fresh, hands-on project led by professional teaching artists—drawing inspiration from artists, exhibitions, and cultural traditions. No experience needed, just bring your imagination.

Powered by community partnerships with local artists, cultural organizations, and businesses, Family Saturdays celebrate the vibrant creativity of our Gulf Coast region—from comic books to quilts to pizza-inspired storytelling. Together, we’re building a space where families connect, make memories, and leave a little more colorful.


Family Saturdays are FREE, but you must RSVP for each event.

SEPTEMBER: Once Upon a Canvas
Stories come to life through art. From quilts and puppets to comics and Wonderland-inspired creations, this month explores storytelling in all its forms.
September 6 – Story Quilts: Threads of Family
September 13 – Puppet Pals: Storytelling You Can Hold
September 20 – Comic Creation with Bat City Comics & Papa Johns Pizza
September 27 – Wonderland Workshop (in partnership with the Van Wezel’s Fall Family Fest)

OCTOBER: Spooktacular Studios
A month of make-believe, masks, and monsters. From wearable art to pumpkin painting and costume labs, October is packed with playful scares and creative thrills—plus a visit from the Troy Ice Cream Truck!

NOVEMBER: Give Thanks, Make Art
A celebration of gratitude and gathering. Seasonal colors, family traditions, and sensory experiences guide the art this month, from nature prints to Thanksgiving table treasures.

DECEMBER: Holidays in Paradise
Sunshine meets celebration. December features festive printmaking, glowing cards, photo-worthy backdrops, and a holiday book fair.
